steamed currant roll

Ingredients

  • Oil, 300 grams
  • Currants, 200 grams
  • Sugar , 150 grams
  • Salt, 1 pinch
  • Self Raising Flour, 600 grams
  • Baking Powder, 20 grams
  • Water or milk, 375 milliliters

method

Sieve the flour, salt and baking powder.

Mix in the oil, sugar and currants.

Add enough water or milk to make a firm dough.

Roll in the dough onto greased grease proof paper and a foil.

Tie with strong strings on both ends and steam for 90 min on moderate heat.

Remove the cloth and paper and serve with custard.
