Fad diets like the Blood Type diet, the Cabbage Soup diet, and the Fat Flush all have one thing in common - they make big, pound-shedding promises they cannot keep. Beware of any diet plan that;
- claims you will lose weight fast, at a rate of more than 1 or 2 pounds a week.
- promises you can shed pounds and keep them off even while enjoying unhealthy fatty foods or never having o exercise.
- bases its claim and results on before-and- after photos and testimonials, instead of hard exercise.
- totally bans certain nutrients or entire food groups , such as carbs, sugar and fats. None of these are not bad in moderation and they are found in many healthy foods. Avoiding them completely can lead to cravings that can blow your diet.
- indicates that you should skip meals or replace them with special drinks or food bars. The nutrition in these products in these products cannot replace a balanced meal.
- that it works by drastically cutting your calories, as with starvation diets. These plans try to take the weight off fast, but you end up dropping water weight, not fat and regaining it when you stop the diet. In fact, starvation diets actually slow your metabolism.
- charges for expensive seminars, supplements, herbs, or prepackaged meals you supposedly 'need' for the plan to work properly.
